Farm-Scale Manure Hygienizing Device in the Test

Short Introductive summary

A ManPas manure hygienizing device is being tested on the farm to investigate its suitability for hygienizing the manure. The device heat treats manure at 70 ? by utilizing the heat generated by manure microbial decomposition. This treatment fulfils the EU manure hygiene requirements. The purpose is to test manures that have used different types of bedding materials. Alternatives for bedding include wood, peat, straw, and reed canary grass. Samples are collected for analysis to help with the study. The purpose is to find out what happens to the heating of manure and the development of the number of bacteria. The hygienized manure can be reused as bedding in stables and barns or as soil amendment. Hygienizing allows for consumer sales, which transforms manure from a problem into a money-worthy end product.
