Simulating the Evolution of the Greek Biodiesel Industry

Short Introductive summary

This work investigates the driving forces/barriers that influences the evolution of biodiesel producers in Greece. The Greek biodiesel market was studied using a Geographical Information System based application, functional for interpreting the spatiotemporal distribution of biodiesel production units. In addition, the penetration of biodiesel in the Greek was analyzed and a new S-shape simulation model based on the logistic function has been established. The developed herein S-shape simulation model estimated the capacity or the quantity distributed by the government or the real production of biodiesel per year with 2004 as the reference year. The parameters of the simulation model were determined in each case, using the non-linear regression analysis technique. The standard error of estimate showed the goodness of the fitting. A forecasting effort was done using the developed simulation model.
