Promoting Innovation Excellence in Transformation of Coal Regions to Climate-Neutral, Thriving Economies
Short Introductive summary
Building on the context outlined above, COALition aims to join forces in R&I of regions belonging in widening countries that are facing an extreme challenge ahead to maintain their economies while initiating coal phase out plans, supported by a key partner from a more advanced region under transition. The regions have been carefully selected among the under transition EU states (belonging in the top ten JTF funded countries) that are also characterized as widening, in an attempt to maximize the long-term impact of the joint R&I strategy that will be developed within the project, as those territories are about to amass large amounts of funding and COALition aims to create multiplier effects in the given investments by attracting and mobilizing external investments.

Dr. Rainer Janssen is Managing Director Projects at WIP GmbH & Co Planungs-KG and Senior Expert in bio-based solutions and renewable energies. He specialises in the production, distribution and market penetration of bio-based solutions for energy, materials, chemicals and other high value products.
