Short Introductive summary
Cistus is one of the most characteristic genera of the Mediterranean shrub flora, being Cistus ladanifer the most used species at industrial level, especially to produce essential oil and labdanum gum. On the other hand, Cistus laurifolius, is rarely used, although some interesting results have been obtained regarding the activity of its essential oil. The main objective of the ES-Jara project is to develop the potential of Cistus derived products, particularly essential oils, through the active management of Cistus ladanifer and Cistus laurifolius shrublands Estimating the time of highest production of essential oil is crucial to determine the optimum harvesting time of the shrubland. Remote sensing is a tool that allows predictions to be made by reducing field work. The objective of this work is to correlate spectral indices obtained from satellite data with the essential oil yield of C. ladanifer and C. laurifolius plants collected in two different sites along a year

Presenter's biography
Raquel Bados Sevillano (Degree in Forestry Engineering) works since 2005 in the Renewable Energy Department of CIEMAT-CEDER placed in Soria (SPAIN). Her work is related with solid biofuels pretreatment for use in combustion boilers. She has participated in more than 10 research projects related to solid biomass.
