Energy Catacterization of Almound Wood and Husk in New Orchard Characterized by Specific Training System: Some Insigh in Italy

Short Introductive summary

Biomass resources are potentially one of the largest and most sustainable energy sources in the world. Bioenergy can play a vital role in meeting the global demand profiles in energy sectors. In this framework, almond cultivation generates several million tons of residue that include hulls, shells, leaves and pruning which are valuable feedstocks in clean energy production. The combination of pruning and harvested husks can, if directed towards a correct transformation chain, represent a useful opportunity for almond growers. The analyzes carried out will also evaluate the possibility of gasifying and obtaining biochar for agronomic use. The machines necessary for biomass collection, apart from the separator already evaluated by CREA, can be borrowed from other supply chains for which no investments are required.
