Revolutionizing Enzyme Production from Organic Waste: A Study on Shortened Fermentation Period

Short Introductive summary

The study investigates the efficacy of producing garbage enzyme from vegetable and fruit peels within a notably shortened fermentation period of five days. Conventionally, garbage enzyme preparation takes one to three months, but this research explores the feasibility of reducing this timeframe. The study assessed the effectiveness of the produced garbage enzyme by quantifying the activity levels of multi-hydrolytic enzymes like cellulase, protease, lipase, and amylase. Additionally, the study optimizes the pH range for each enzyme to ensure maximum activity. The investigation revealed that the garbage enzyme produced after 5 days of fermentation exhibits significantly greater hydrolytic enzyme activity compared to garbage enzyme fermented over a period of three months. Result indicate that reducing fermentation duration enhances enzyme activity. Presently, garbage enzymes find utility in various treatment applications, including greywater, food waste, dairy waste-activated sludge, and landfill leachate. Enhanced enzyme production efficiency will broaden the scope of garbage enzyme applications and thus contributing to more efficient waste management practices.
