Use of Agri-Food Waste Hydrolysate And Civil Wastewater for Microalgal Cultivation

Short Introductive summary

In this work, we used agri-food waste coming from an Italian company, Agrinsieme, to obtain a growth medium rich in simple sugars useful for the cultivation of microalgae. We tested several methods for releasing the major quantity of nutrients from the wastes to the solution, such as hydrothermal methods and enzymatic hydrolysis. In order to dilute the solid waste, civil wastewaters were also used as water source. Microalgae of Chlorella sp. species were cultivated in the growth media obtained with success.
