Sustainable integrated agricultural management practices - Prospects of a sustainable production of biomass

Mechanical Harvesting Assessment of Guayule at Different Growth Stages for Sustainable Rubber Production

Short Introductive summary

Guayule (Parthenium argentatum) is a promising alternative source of natural rubber, particularly suited for cultivation in arid and semi-arid regions. However, its commercial viability is hindered by the lack of dedicated harvesting machinery. This study presents the results of two experimental trials conducted to evaluate the mechanical harvesting performance of guayule at different growth stages and with various plant varieties. The trials aimed to assess biomass recovery, operational efficiency, and the adaptability of existing machinery to this novel crop.
