Circular bioeconomy and environmental performance: innovations and assessments

Environmental Impact Analysis of Advanced Biofuel Production from Microalgae-Conservative Scenario

Short Introductive summary

This abstract outline the results of an Environmental Impact assessment conducted on a pilot-scale facility that produces Advanced Liquid Biofuel. Biofuels are produced by converting industrial CO2 emissions from a bioethanol plant and a steel plant through microalgae cultivation. One of the main objectives of the FUELGAE project is to evaluate the sustainability and economic viability of producing biofuels from microalgae. These assessments are conducted using the Environmental Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) methodology. This abstract presents the results obtained from a conservative scenario with a photobioreactor of 5,000 m3 annual cultivation capacity, for producing advanced liquid biofuel using LCA methodology.
