Biogas and biomethane production
Farm-Scale Biogas Production and Utilization in South-Savo Region in Finland
Short Introductive summary
There are international and national targets to reduce to use of fossil energy sources and minimize CO2 emissions. These targets have also influential implications for agricultural sector. This paper focus to evaluate possibilities of biogas utilization in farm-scale in South-Savo region in Finland. The focus is activating farmers to find out their own possibilities to produce and utilize biogas in their own purposes and so reduce to use of fossil energy. The study has been divided following subtasks: the biogas production potential and potential farms in region of South-Savo, local challenges in biogas production, farm-scale biogas production and utilization in Finnish agriculture, biogas end-use in rural area, biogas competitiveness in Finnish farms, by-products from biogas production, and reporting. The more detailed results will be presented in conference paper and presentation. There are positive expectations that biogas could be realistic renewable energy source in the future.
