Advanced Composting with Heat Recovery: From Lab-Scale Experiments to Process Modeling

Short Introductive summary

The COMPOSTdiVINO project aims to valorize agro-industrial waste from the Trentino–Alto Adige region through a sustainable process that combines compost production with heat recovery for hot water and space heating. This approach transforms waste into a valuable resource, promoting a circular model with a low environmental footprint. Chemical and physical characterization of agricultural residues supports the monitoring of biomass conversion into compost at the laboratory scale, while integrated sensors continuously collect data to develop and validate a mathematical model describing the composting process.
