Catalyst-Driven Trade-offs and Product Distribution Pathways in Catalytic Fast Pyrolysis of Palm Empty Fruit Bunch
Short Introductive summary
This study investigates how FCC zeolite catalysts influence product distribution and elemental composition during catalytic fast pyrolysis of palm empty fruit bunch (EFB). Results show a clear trade-off between bio-oil yield and deoxygenation, with catalyst UFV-266 maximizing liquid production (21.0 wt%) and UFV-043 enhancing deoxygenation and gas formation, while reducing biocarbon yield (18.7 wt%). Elemental analysis and mass balance reveal how catalyst selection governs carbon and oxygen distribution across products. These findings support a more rational approach to catalyst selection for biomass conversion and biorefinery applications.
